Step into Hilliard’s past at the Hilliard Historical Village & Museum in Weaver Park. Visitors can explore a collection of preserved and reconstructed buildings and artifacts representing early community life, agriculture, education, worship and railroad history.

Highlights include the 1876 Colwell Chapel, 1891 Grandview Schoolhouse, Hilliards Station railroad depot, an 1850s-style log cabin, C&O caboose, covered bridge, farm workshop, Kuhn’s Barn, mobile voting wagon, railroad signal and village gazebo.

The Hilliard Historical Village & Museum is open for the Summer Season, weekends May through September, offering free admission to the public every Saturday and Sunday from 1:00 to 5:00 PM. Stop by the museum and ask for a guided tour.

Visitors are invited to bring a picnic lunch to enjoy on the scenic gazebo before stepping back in time with a guided tour of any of our eight authentic buildings from the 1800s.

After exploring the historic grounds, guests can escape the summer heat inside the fully air-conditioned museum and gift shop while kids can try the interactive model train.

It is the perfect budget-friendly weekend destination for local families, seniors, and history enthusiasts alike.

The Historical Village is adjacent to the Franklin County Fairgrounds. Enter through the fairgrounds’ west entrance from Columbia Street for visitor parking.

Village buildings are generally opened for scheduled tours, educational programs, seasonal hours and special events. Because availability may vary, visitors should check the Society’s calendar or contact the Historical Society before traveling.
