Pat Willmann
Pat Willmann is one of our newer members who has been very active since joining. For Pat Willmann, community connection and lifelong learning go hand in hand—and Hilliard provides the perfect place for both.
Pat was drawn to Hilliard through long-time friendships and familiarity with the area, having grown up in nearby Upper Arlington. After living in Hilliard for about 15 years, Pat says what stands out most is the people: a family-oriented community with a strong sense of togetherness and deep historical roots.
“Hilliard has consistently improved during the time I’ve lived here,” Pat shares, noting that the city continues to grow while remaining committed to preserving its history for residents and visitors alike.
Pat’s involvement with the Hilliard Ohio Historical Society began by attending events and participating in docent training in August 2025. What truly sparked Pat’s enthusiasm was the passion of the volunteers. “The enthusiasm, dedication, adaptability, and inclusiveness of the docents and members really drew me in and deepened my interest in Hilliard’s history.”
What Pat appreciates most about HOHS is that it is entirely volunteer-driven and truly lives its mission of connecting people to Hilliard history. Pat believes the organization continues to evolve thoughtfully, describing stewardship as a shared responsibility: “It takes a village to steward a village.”
As a volunteer, Pat most enjoys sharing information directly with visitors and residents through tours and events, while also lending a hand wherever needed. For Pat, HOHS represents continued growth and learning—both personally and as part of the broader community.
Beyond HOHS, Pat is actively involved with several organizations, including the American Cancer Society Discovery Shop, the Columbus Zoo, the Dublin Irish Festival, and the Franklin County Fair. In recognition of this service, Pat received the President’s Volunteer Service Award in 2024.
In free time, Pat enjoys being active outdoors, solving puzzles, and expressing creative humor—interests that reflect both curiosity and a joyful approach to life.
Through dedication, service, and a love of learning, Pat Willmann exemplifies the spirit of stewardship that helps keep Hilliard’s history alive for future generations.
