Chris Jordan
Meet September’s honored volunteer and member of HOHS, Chris Jordan. Chris moved to Columbus in 1988 for school, and never left. His wife of 31 years, Holly, moved to the Hilliard area ten years later where they raised three daughters here. Chris is currently an Operations Manager employed for an Automation Distributor based in Dayton. For fun, he enjoys political discussions, cooking and a ravenous need to continually learn new things.
Chris learned about our society through a neighborhood friend who asked him to help him with his own personal hobby of photography and needed someone to play Santa. “I jumped at the chance and had a blast,” he recalled. After borrowing an HOHS suit that first year, he was completely hooked. By year two, Chris invested in his very own suit, officially cementing his role as our society’s resident—and spectacular—Santa Claus.
Long before officially joining HOHS, Chris was no stranger to giving back. When asked about his philosophy on service, his advice is simple: “Just do it. You’ll get back more than you put in.”
His official journey with us began in 2024, when his youngest daughter was married in the Colwell Chapel. After walking through our museum for the first time, he wanted to be a part of it and joined the society shortly after.
This deep connection to the past comes naturally to him. “I’ve always loved history,” Chris shares, tracing his passion back to his childhood. “As a young boy, my father and I used to collect and restore old lanterns and tools. Today, that same passion helps keep our history alive.”
Chris reminds us of the true value of history: "Those who don’t learn from history are bound to repeat its mistakes." In a world where technology moves faster than ever, Chris believes that knowing our roots is what inspires a genuine appreciation for how far we’ve come.
As for what’s next? Chris is dreaming up a fantastic future event for HOHS: an old-time ice cream social complete with a square dance, live music, and a traditional corn and wiener roast!
Next time Santa drops by the village on Dec. 13, be sure to give Chris a big high-five and congratulate him on being featured in September’s spotlight!
